Improving
the estimation of travel demand
Given the serious problem of increasing traffic congestion, estimating
travel demand has become a critical priority in employing traffic
control strategies. An ITS Institute research group led by David
Levinson has developed a practical model to describe the interaction
between travel demand and traffic flow phenomena.
A safer way to multi-task
Driver distraction due to a complex control interface is becoming
more problematic as car manufacturers add new electronic features
for in-vehicle communication and navigation. Research presently
being conducted by William Durfee may show how to solve this problem
by consolidating non-critical secondary controls into a single multi-function
device.
