Kids learn about engineering with uninhabited aerial vehicle prototype

Oliver Carsten

A prototype uninhabited aerial vehicle (UAV) being developed by ITS Institute researchers proved a popular attraction at The Works, a “hands-on, minds-on” learning center for children and teens, during its annual TechFest event. Around 1,200 people were in attendance.

The UAV developed by Professor Demoz Gebre-Egziabher is part of his work exploring the use of these vehicles for traffic management and security (visit his research Web page for more information on this work). Children and their parents were intrigued by the vehicle and engaged Institute staff with their questions about its capabilities and construction.
