Metro Transit and the University of Minnesota were awarded a contract from the Federal Transit Administration to develop the systems requirement report for lane-assist systems. The ITS Institute’s Intelligent Vehicles Laboratory is currently leading a research project to enhance transit operations and efficiency through the deployment of safe technology assistance systems by addressing lane-assist technology for narrow bus lanes.

A web site (http://www.its.umn.edu/research/brt/) and e-mail distribution list have been developed to help the BRT lane-assist technology systems project team communicate research progress. If you would like to receive BRT e-News, please send your request to: itsinst@tc.umn.edu.

If you know of anyone who should be included in this distribution, please also include that information in your e-mail. To subscribe, your name, the name of your organization, agency, or company, your e-mail address, and your mailing address are required. You will also be placed on the ITS Institute mailing list.

Craig Shankwitz, a researcher with the Mechanical Engineering department, is the manager of the project. ITS Institute director Max Donath is the project’s principal investigator. Dawn Spanhake, project coordinator, can be reached at spanhake@cts.umn.edu or at 612-626-1536.
