Driver alcohol-detection systems: The end to drunk driving?

About the Event

Susan A. Ferguson

Technology may finally be able to eliminate drunk driving with advanced systems that can be installed in all vehicles to noninvasively measure driver blood-alcohol concentration. In 2011, researchers plan to demonstrate prototype devices in a research vehicle.

At the CTS Winter Luncheon, Susan Ferguson, program manager for a multimillion dollar research program investigating driver alcohol-detection technologies, presented the latest research findings and efforts under way to gauge public reaction to such technology.
