Tours and Events

Tours of ITS Facilities

The ITS Institute provides high school groups with tours and demos of the various transportation facilities and labs. Students have the opportunity to see and learn about the Minnesota Traffic Observatory, HumanFIRST Program and Intelligent Vehicles Laboratory. Fond Du Lac Summer Transportation Institute

The Fond Du Lac Summer Transportation Institute, funded by the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), provides career orientation and educational experiences to secondary school students. The ITS Institute provides an overview on transportation research and facility tours every summer to students that attend the Summer Institute.

Exploring Careers in Engineering & Science

The annual Institute of Technology Exploring Careers in Engineering and Physical Science program provides high school students with the opportunity to engage in demonstrations, lectures, tours, and lab experiences that make engineering and science come alive. The ITS Institute provides interactive traffic engineering lessons for this program.

TechFest at The Works

TechFest is an annual science and technology event that aims to interest K-12 students in math, science, and technology topics. The ITS Institute partners with other organizations and University departments to sponsor the event, which is held at The Works museum.

Presentations for High Schools

Transportation professionals from private and public industries can visit area high schools to discuss the transportation industry, give lectures, and demonstrate research and technology.
