Module is a structured research opportunity in which students will
research a specific topic that has been provided by the teacher. The
teacher also provides the research material which can include web
sites, newspaper and magazine articles, books and teacher
created information or data. Research Modules are made specifically
to provide students with an opportunity to practice the research
modules have the following characteristics:
- Students are responsible for
their own learning.
- Students are engaged
in the task.
- Students act with forethought.
- Students work in teams
- have a clear
focus upon a single essential question which calls for
problem solving or decision-making.
- include assessment
throughout the entire process, not just at the end.

from media center sources such as the Electric Library
as well as the "free Internet."
