Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition

Participants and U of M vehicle in the 2007 Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition

Engineering students at the University of Minnesota are encouraged to participate in the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC), a national competition of student-designed robotic vehicles that compete to navigate routes and find locations based on coordinates. Participation gives students invaluable real-world design and project management experience.

The Institute provides support for the student team.

ITS America Student Essay Competition

The Student Essay Competition, given at the ITS America Annual Meeting, is designed to encourage student interest and future participation in the development of Intelligent Transportation Systems and solutions.

Collegiate Student Safety Technology Design Competition

The Collegiate Student Safety Technology Design Competition gives young scholars from Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America the opportunity to design, build, and demonstrate a potentially cost effective conceptual scale model of a vehicle safety technology.

USDOT Data Visualization Student Challenge

The Data Visualization Student Challenge, sponsored by the USDOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration Bureau of Transportation Statistics, gives students the chance to examine data visualization options for better informed policy and investment decisions in support of transportation safety and/or economic development.
